✅ How SMACC Verification Works: Logos, QR Codes, and Trust You Can See
At SMACC, we believe that trust is earned — and should be easily verified. That’s why we’ve created a layered, transparent system that allows creators, sponsors, and the public to instantly check whether someone is an active, trusted SMACC member.
We call this system FAB-Three — a combination of:
- Faith in our shared values
- Authentic identity
- Branded transparency
Together, these elements form something far more powerful than a badge or a sticker. They create a living proof system — built on conduct, visual confirmation, and live data.
🧭 The Core: The SMACC Code of Conduct
At the heart of everything we do is the SMACC Code of Conduct — a clear set of values and guidelines that define how our members operate:
- Ethical content creation
- Respect for platforms and communities
- Transparency in monetization
- Parental responsibility in family channels
Every verified member agrees to uphold these values. This is what makes being part of SMACC meaningful — it’s not just a listing, it’s a commitment.
🛡️ The Symbol: SMACC Verified Logos
Once verified, members are granted access to official SMACC logos and verification badges. These are:
- Recognizable
- Professionally designed
- Available in formats for websites, social media, email signatures, and merchandise
When you see the SMACC Verified badge, you’re seeing someone who has agreed to uphold our Code and is recognized by our team.
But a logo alone isn’t enough. In the age of AI and imitation, we need something live and checkable.
🔗 The Key: The QR Code
This is where the SMACC system becomes dynamic and fraud-resistant.
Every verified logo must be accompanied by an active QR code that links directly to the member’s live public SMACC profile.
Why this matters:
- The QR code is the real verification.
- Anyone can scan the code to confirm that the logo is being used by a current, listed, and approved member.
- If a member is delisted, revoked, or suspended — their public profile disappears, and the QR code no longer verifies anything.
This is similar to how digital driving license lookups work in the UK: you can show a physical license, but the live status is what proves you’re allowed to drive.
🚨 Reporting or Challenging a Member
Trust works both ways. That’s why SMACC includes a process to report or challenge a verified member if they appear to be violating the Code of Conduct.
How It Works:
- Anyone — member or public — can report a concern via the upcoming “Make a Claim” or “Report” section of our website.
- They provide the member’s public profile URL and explain the reason they believe the Code of Conduct has been breached.
- Once submitted, we will immediately mark that account as “Under Investigation” in the directory.
- Within 5 days, we will reach out to the member for a right of reply and request any supporting evidence.
- We may also request further input from the complainant.
Investigation Outcomes:
- No Further Action — the complaint was unfounded or not a breach.
- Caution Issued — a minor breach occurred.
- Verified Status Suspended — pending resolution or additional review.
- Membership Revoked — serious or repeated breaches.
This mirrors models like Formula 1 racing stewards: investigations can happen during or after the event, but are clear, timely, and decisive.
A Note on Submissions:
- We treat reports from verified members more seriously than from the general public — verified members are expected to understand and apply the Code.
- We also take defensive submissions seriously. Any member under investigation may submit a statement, timeline, screenshots, or video evidence.
SMACC’s leadership team — our core committee — has the final say. As with any membership organization, we reserve the right to make decisions that protect the integrity of the platform.
The SMACC Code of Conduct is not just a promise — it’s a two-way agreement. By sharing a public profile, members agree to be accountable. And by scanning the QR code, the public agrees to engage responsibly.
📋 What We Need to Build
To enable this system, we will implement:
- A Report/Claim submission form (linked from all public profiles)
- A status tag on profiles (e.g., “Under Investigation”)
- A case tracker (admin-only)
- Email templates for:
- Claim received
- Member response request
- Outcome decision
- Staff moderation dashboard
- Option for anonymous (but documented) public submissions
📢 Encouraging Everyone to Use It
We ask that:
- ✅ Members display the SMACC badge with QR code wherever they promote themselves
- 🤝 Sponsors verify SMACC status before working with influencers
- 🔍 The public scans QR codes before trusting content
This isn’t about locking people out — it’s about lifting standards.
🧩 A Living Trust System
The combination of:
- SMACC Code of Conduct (intent)
- SMACC Verified Logo (identity)
- Live QR Code (proof)
- Transparent Challenge Process (accountability)
…forms a 4-part system that works together. Alone, each part is helpful. Together, they create a living ecosystem of verified trust.
In an age where anyone can claim anything, SMACC is building a system where values can be seen, and trust can be scanned.
